Oh Piff
The has been one of those weeks when I wanted cocktail hour to begin at 7am. Everyday. Joking (kind of). I am worn out in every sense of the word. Smith has had moments of being possessed by the devil and he also had a bad allergic reaction to something unknown that scared the poo out of me. Ruby Kate won't sleep and just screams. A lot. She was up from 1-4am last night, ugh. I'm pretty sure she is 10 months old and not a newborn. I digress..The last thing I wanted to do was go over to a friends house tonight for dinner and for the kids to play. I just wanted to go to bed. But we committed to it so I had to go. I don't know the husband or wife very well so that added to my anxiety, ha but Ty has been friends with the husband for a while. They just built a home near us. It ended up being so fun and the wife and I have so many things in common. It was really good for the soul kind of fun and I didn't even drink, haha. I have really been missing my friends so much lately. This was a good reassurance to me to never give up on making new friends. Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver but the others gold.

Summer time
Lately:
-Spent 2 weeks at my parents for the 4th of July
-Alicia's bachorette party at the lake
-Went to Auburn, AL for my old ATL roommate's wedding
-RK turned 10 months and Smith turned 2 1/2
-Started potty training then stopped, hahah. Peeing 3 times in the Target aisles was too much for me
-I read 3 books; I haven't read a non baby book in 3 years so this is big. I read, The Inferno, Gone Girl and reread The Great Gatsby
Summer is flying by! We have a few more trips planned before summer's end

9 months
Ruby Kate turned 9 months old on Sunday, ahhhh! She is the sweetest thing. We had her well check up yesterday. She weighs 21.5 pounds and is 29 1/4 inches. Guess it's time to get her a new car seat. Everything was good except she is anemic. It's not too bad, we just have to get more iron in her. I haven't been feeding her oatmeal because it messes her tummy up and just didn't think about giving her meat, but now I am for sure. She just started sleeping 11 continuous hours last week! I am hoping no more middle of the night feedings for her. Fingers crossed because I was starting to get delirious, ha.

Summer Fun
It's been a fun summer so far with a trip to the lake and a week at the River! We are home for about 2 weeks then back to the River for the 4th of July week. It is so relaxing down there and it just makes me happy. I really hope we can move down there one day.
The kids have been happy and healthy lately, knock on wood. Although RK had another ear infection earlier ugh, number 2 so far. Smith has never had one. Poor second child, she gets all the germs.
RK is still not crawling. I'm a little perplexed because S totally was by 8 months and I was thinking being a second and a girl she would do it early. We have her 9 month appt Monday so I will discuss with her ped. Her hair is starting to lay down, boo. She is "talking" up a storm and her favorite thing to do is happy scream, haha! Especially in the grocery store! She is just the happiest baby. I would have ten if they were all like her and Smith (and if I had a cook, housekeeper, personal trainer and a lot of money, hahaha)
Smith is talking like crazy too and it's so fun to hear what comes out of his mouth. I would love to peak in his brain because I don't know how he comes up with some things. He loves his sister and when he gets hurt he automatically sucks his thumb and rubs her head to calm down. It is the cutest thing. S starts swim lessons today. He is pretty timid so I'm nervous how this is going to go. We got out the plastic pool at my parents and he loved it so hopefully he will love the big pool. He liked it last year but who knows....
We have a lot of fun events coming up-2 bachelorette parties, an engagement party, 2 weddings and lots of traveling! Good times

Back to reality
So much has happened I don't have time to write it all down, ha.
We just got back from spending about 3 weeks at my parents with a trip home in between. It was awesome! We celebrated Ty's birthday and his new job! And we celebrated big! Lots of drinking, eating, boating, golfing and playing. We even braved a beach trip with just our little family. It was so much fun and a lot of work. We always go with my parents to the beach so this was new. But we really enjoyed it and even went out to dinner with the early birds. Our kids go to bed so early that is is hard to go out with them but it worked out great going early. I was nervous about all the long car trips but they both did really well and still no DVD player! I'm impressed!
The kids are goods and growing like crazy. Smith is talking up a storm. He loves singing, playing the guitar and drums. He can throw a football like nobody's business. His favorite song is Mumford and Sons. I Will Wait.
RK is so sweet. She is sleeping better and sometimes even 10 hours. She is sitting by herself but no crawling yet. I'm sure she will follow S and be about 8 or so months before that happens. I have been making all of her food and she seems to really like everything. Her hair still sticks straight up and I love it so much. Her bottom two teeth are also in.

Ruby Kate is 6 months
Well it has happened, baby girl is 6 months old! One day you are cradling a tiny baby and praying you don't let their heads flop to much and the next thing you know you have a toddler saying, No mama, Piff do it now. So cliche but so heartbreakingly (new word) true. I love babies and I would always have a baby around if that was possible.
RK is rolling both ways but she prefers back to tummy. She is sitting in tripod well. We had her well visit Friday and she weighs 18.3 pounds and 27.5 inches tall. She is way up there in the percentiles right now; curious if it keeps up. She is wearing 12m clothes and size 3 diapers. She is sleeping 8-10 hours and then wakes ups for a feeding then back to sleep until about 6:45-7:15a. Not too shabby! I started her on oatmeal at 5 months, still earlier than I usually do but decided it was ok. That was a hit! I have just started her on avocado and prunes. Some days she likes the avi sometimes not. I usually do veggies first but had to start prunes and probiotics due to some tummy issues.
What a crazy few months we have had. I have been watching my youngest nephew, William, 2-3 times a week. It has been challenging with 3 little ones (he is 3 1/2) but also fun having a playmate for Smith. They love each other even if they always want the same exact toy at the same exact time, haha.
We are all doing pretty good (Smith's fav saying). Some things are still up in the air but we are hanging in there! I'm hoping we get to go down to my parents soon for some R & R.

Dominican Republic
A few weeks ago we were so fortunate to be able to travel to a dear friend's wedding in the DR. Ty nor I had never been to DR and it did not disappoint! It was absolutely beautiful! The water was some of the prettiest I have seen. It was also a big step for me leaving the babies for 5 days. It was heart wrenching and I cried a lot but I did it and I was thankful we didn't end up bringing them like we had originally planned. With Smith's food allergies it would have been almost impossible to pack enough safe foods for him. Our flight from ATL was the scariest I had been on but we made it and as soon as I breathed in the salty, humid air I felt better. The beach is my happy place.
We stayed at Sanctuary Cap Cana and it was so great. They ended up making all of the wedding guests all inclusive, which was amazing. From our suite the beach was about 200 yards. That is my idea of heaven.
We arrived on Thursday afternoon and hung out at the beach and had a good dinner. Then the hotel put on a show, hilarious. Friday was the girls catamaran cruise. We snorkeled, a few of us swam with sharks and we drank. It was a lot of fun and I met some fun friends. We had the rehearsal dinner that night at a restaurant that was over the water...amazing. We went to the beach most of Saturday and the wedding that night. Katie looked amazing! It was a short but sweet ceremony. Then we headed to drink and dinner. She did a great job of e decor, etc. Ty was sick Sunday and Monday but I just hung out at the beach and pool. Not bad for the middle of February! We left late Monday afternoon and got home a little after midnight.
It was so nice and the perfect time of year to visit a beach. This trip really happened at the worst and best time, haha. It was really difficult preparing to go in part because I wanted RK to continue having breast milk. I pumped for almost 2 months to store enough for her. But it was successful and worth it.
The kids had a great time with Sassy and Padoo! I don't think I will be ready to leave them for a few years, haha
