Birthdays!

Smith-day 1, Mommy, 32

January 20 will never be the same and I am so grateful!  For 31 years that was my birthday and now I can say that it is our birthday.  Smith turned 1 and I turned 33 on January 20, 2012.  12:00pm for me and 2:51 for Smith.  It is still very hard to believe that we have the same birthday.  All day it felt surreal but I loved it.  Last year it barely crossed my mind that it was my birthday.  So many scary things happened that day that I still cry thinking about it.  But then all I have to do is think of my son and know it all turned out wonderfully.

We started the day with a Wood family tradition-chippies (chocolate chip pancakes).  I was able to find a wonderful pancake mix from CherryBrook Kitchen that is allergen free in every sense of the word.  I also found some chocolate chips from Enjoy Life that are also allergen free (thanks to Sarah).  He loved them and I thought they were pretty tasty!!  We had a great day with our little family (Ty was home too!).  My parents got in about 4:30 that afternoon so we spent some time with them before putting Smith to bed.  My parents stayed with us so we enjoyed some yummy vino to celebrate.  The next day was busy with Smith's first birthday party.  We decided just to invite family as I am not much of a social butterfly nor party planner.  But, I do have to say it was a lot of fun and all of the food, and decor turned out great (thanks to Mimmie and Em).  I ordered cupcakes for Smith from Divvies, a bakery in NY.  They were good and I will definitely order from them again.  I tried one too since I can't eat anything Smith is allergic to.  Sunday was a very special day too because Smith and his cousin Will got baptized.  Yes, we are a little late in the game but Ty and I had some differences of opinions on this matter.  Let's just say he won.  But, it turned out great and I am so thankful Smith is finally baptized.  We had brunch afterwards at the Kovach's and ended up staying all day celebrating with lots of champagne and bloody marys.  I even had a few!

It was an awesome weekend with family and I can't wait to do this every year!!  I also can't believe my little Mr. is 1!  It is beyond imaginable that an entire year has already passed.
